Happy Summer

Okay, so I was supposed to be blogging all summer, but I TOTALLY forgot, so here goes a post!

This summer, I was SUPPOSED to go to Orlando, Florida for a job, but I got terribly sick and ended up having to stay in Dallas, so I attended The Cultural Enrichment Program at TBAAL (The Black Academy Of Arts and Letters) and we put on Motown Motown: The Musical and I got to play Diana Ross and sing "Endless Love"

The Story of Film

This episode was mainly about the history and highlights of film and how the Japanese were the initial and traditional creators of film
Buster Keaton was a silent movie maker .
I learned a lot of comedic devices that would go on to help me in my comedy class this school year and further in life in my acting career.

Between The Folds

I absolutely loved the video. It was well structured and it made me actually interested in origami. Before, I figured paper cranes were all you could make, but now I realize there are many different and creative things that can be conceived thru the art of paper folding. It can be very entertaining and also can help clear all the crazy ruminations we contain.

Bountiful Eternity

We do it for better but it gets worse Like were living in a hearse And the smell of death is sensed Sharks and slave ships I can't explain it This feeling I get Makes me wanna quit Potential waisted On waiting For possibility To arise And this life Aint all that it seems Cause it seems That we Enjoy Misery Truth is We try to escape Trying not to break These chains And boundaries Cause we say we'll let go and let God Do what he does We don't recognize He is God.. He's already done Whatever you wanted I make tertiary decisions Based on binary compositions And I trust my intuition to confirm all my ambitions And dreams and wishes Come as a cool breeze And in the sun I frolic Because I am free From all boundaries Set on the person who came before me You see my ancestors past May have shaped my future But things that did not last Shall not propose threats like suichors And all that did not suit her May very well suit me Because one man's trashy past May be another's bountiful eternity

Tattered Walls

It's like I've climbed a mountain and there's no peak Like the world's most beautiful bird with no beak A vocalist who can't sing An author who can't write. A cat that can't scratch Or a dog who mustn't bite A black woman with no fight Left in her because despite what you've heard You still don't listen You have the mitt But it's something you keep missing Something youre not catching Like a bitch who's not fetching. Or a couple gay men in a sauna Who aren't errecting And keep rejecting the possibility that maybe the rainbow won't come out after this storm we're having. And maybe we'll catch a glimpse of what earth would be like if the negros on the plantations Traded places with the whites. Or the narcissistic cheerleaders of the typical high school life With their pretty pink laced thongs Got trash talked, bashed and walked on By the poor ugly helpless geek with the band uniform. And maybe if she hadn't of broke your heart and paved the way for others to have to pay for the damage that she had done... Awards for best lying cheating hoe that she had won Then maybe you'd find room in your imbibing punctured soul To grow up & simply let go of these tattered walls. But they don't know These old boats don't float Like it's not cool to be a hoe I mean, iust because niggas are okay with something don't mean nothing Like What good is it to be accepted When you're no longer respected The individual unalienable right Is not even yours anymore You wake up in the morning But your whole life is a snore Nothing is unforgettable Because now you're in a box Things that used to go together &work Stopped Like shoes and socks An odd paradox To a life that seems limited By the standards society sets Reality no longer exists Because the government just won't admit Were all screwed No matter which senate should rule America was built for freedom But was built in captivity We give lives... By killing? Like because we wake up in the morning And say the pledge That makes us a little better? No that's inhumane A bit insane dont you think? The deficit for sin grows everyday And there's no end anyway, Because were too weak and frail To let go of these tattered walls.

Shake-A-Beat Nation

ok , so i got moved out of the class ,but with my councilor 's permision sooo ,i got in on the LASt project of the 6 weeks , which was the instrument ! mine was sorta of a drum type thing , soo yeaa (: my group created songs using NASYA KING <3 as our voice , while Chaync Wiggins , Olivia Young , and Asaf Perez used their instruments , and Brandi McLeain , Cameron Amos and I , Ja'Kira Richardson used our bodies to produce two songs/beats . #SHAKE-A-BEAT NATION all day baby <3 (:

Critiques(:

1. Shhh Its A Secret : i think our speaker should have spoken clearer , but overall i think it was good. FIX AUDIO.
2. Ocean Rock Flip book : great concept . could use audio . SLOW DOWN QUOTE.
3. The Void : Music is great , BUT it was really basic .! Video is great . MORE CHALLENGING MUSIC.
4. Move Crew  : Filming was good, except for reading the paper off . i didnt seem professional. editing was AMAZING !    MEMORIZE QUOTE .                                    
5. Cherry Bomb : Great ! Funny ! No story to it .... needs to connect to the quote. ALL ABSTRACT NEEDS A STORY 
6. Crazy Hair : no story . but really great. CREATE STORY.
7.  Motion Hands : No story! no point of musicians if they aren't playing music ! great abstract ! NO COMMON IDEA

Shhh Its A Secret !

        Ours is about movement - we used just about every quote on the paper. Delon plays saxaphone and kristin plays piano , Imani is singing , and alexis is speaking ... that makes up most of our audio , I filmed and i edited !

Mr.Richards class was an EXELLENT expirence . It Really helped get my creativ juices flowing . I think Mr.Richards really aims for removing the artist from their comfort zone so they can be able to use thier creativity 101% !
